‘Students. You might note that David Talvinshire is no longer with us. I use these words deliberately. Some of you may chaff that we only allow new students such as yourself to make one, singular, potion during your first year. Some of you may feel that after-hours study, impresses us.’

‘Indubitably, David Talvinshire felt that creating a healing potion would render this Taint harmless. Or would not Taint his body.’

‘Our topic of study today is known as Cancer, and how to recognize its signs.’

  • 1: 1 portion of fresh troll meat or comparable substance (the GM should pick one), render alchemically. Preservation methods last for one time-step less.
  • 2: Chant 4 hours (4 Will successes) in a circle (4 Endurance successes) dedicated to a deity of healing. Remove taint if 2 favour spent.
  • 3: A careful sifting of alchemical concoctions over the course of 4 weeks (12 total Alchemy successes; roll per week).

  • 1-3: Drink.
  • 4-5: Smear (double duration; roll against taint twice and take the better result).
  • 6: Inject (1d10 healing, 1d8 taint target, or 1d4 taint target if taint removed (taint applied to target is instead reduced)).

  • 5-7: 15 minutes (Agony 1 for duration)
  • 8-9: 5 minutes (Agony 2 for duration, Agony 1 for 2 hours)

  • 1: 1 portion of electric eel meat or comparable substance (the GM should pick one), render alchemically.
  • 2: Chant 2 hours (2 Will successes) in a circle (2 Endurance successes) dedicated to a deity of storms, the sea, or lightning. Remove taint if 2 favour spent.
  • 4: A careful sifting of alchemical concoctions over the course of 2 weeks (6 total Alchemy successes; roll per week).
  • 1: Alchemical apparatus must be made of copper and pure glass, with lodestone bracing ($150).

  • 6: Inject (triple duration, 1d10 taint target, or 1d6 taint target if taint removed (taint applied to target is instead reduced)).
